Missouri House Bill 1137 and SB 713 In Question
As of today, February 23, 2012, We have not been even slightly excited by the proposed legislation introduced for 2012. So far, both of these bills are a step backwards in the fight for equal rights for adopted adults. Please contact Representative Jeanie Lauer and Senator John Lamping and ask them to either fix or pull these bills.
Adoptees, Parents, and Siblings...Are you Registered?
The state of Missouri has a free mutual consent registry to help adopted adults, siblings, and natural parents connect with each other. It is free and could help end your search a lot sooner. http://www.dss.mo.gov/cd/adopt/adoir.htm

FY 2010 Adoption Incentive Awards
The states of Alabama, Alaska, Kansas, and Oregon all received Adoption Incentive Awards from the US Department of Health and Human Services for increasing the number of children adopted from foster care. Kansas and Alaska do not seal adoption records. Alabama and Oregon allow adoptees to have a copy of their original birth certificate along with a contact preference form if one has been submitted. This information shows that allowing adoptees access to their own records does not cause a decrease in adoptions.
